Without good gloves, there can be absolutely no talk of good and effective training. If you agree with that, you’re in the right place. They are an essential piece of equipment for every boxer, responsible for protecting the hands, wrists and… your sparring partner’s face or your opponent during competition. What’s waiting for you here? In this category, you’ll find a model that works well both for technical training and contact bouts.

Boxing gloves - purpose, use, characteristics

Gloves used by boxers are specialized constructions (made of leather, synthetic material and foam), whose main task is impact cushioning and protection of the bones (metacarpus and wrist). The thick and sometimes multi-layered foam inside “absorbs” the energy of thrown punches, which reduces the risk of injury - both for the person throwing the punch and the one receiving it (so in fact - on both sides of the fist).

They work a little “differently” than in mixed martial arts. First, because the fingers are completely covered. And second, because they provide a much higher level of protection (thanks to their padding).

They are mainly divided by weight, which is given in ounces and often also defines their intended use. For example, slightly lighter models (up to 10 oz) are used mainly in competition. For bag training, gloves weighing 10 - 14 oz work well, while for sparring, 14 or 16 oz gloves are used. More foam means a higher level of protection - for you and your partner or opponent.

What types of boxing gloves can you find here?

So far, we’ve added two models to our offer, including:

  • Gloves Ultra - professional, durable gloves made of genuine leather for fighters who never let up, whether in training or in the ring. Multi-layer shock-absorbing foam provides effective protection during bag work and sparring. The ergonomic cut adapts to the natural position of the hand, and the hook-and-loop closure system stabilizes the wrist securely - even during long, intense combinations.
  • Gloves Advanced - training gloves for those just entering the world of boxing or looking for solid, everyday gear for bag work and focus mitt training. Good cushioning, a secure hook-and-loop closure and a comfortable cut - everything you need to start training properly and without the risk of injury.

How do you choose the right boxing gloves?

The key factors are intended use and size. If you mainly train on the heavy bag, choose a model weighing 10 - 12 oz. For regular sparring, go for heavier gloves (14 - 16 oz), which better protect your partner from the effects of harder punches. Remember that gloves are worn over hand wraps - measure the size with them in mind.

Why trust the SMMASH brand?

The answer is simple. We are a manufacturer that knows the reality of combat sports. Our boxing gloves, as well as our other products, are made from high-quality materials. Every construction is well thought out, and the design is created simply to look good.

We choose materials resistant to intensive use. The foam does not lose its cushioning properties, and the seams withstand the stresses typical of dynamic punches. In addition, the inner lining wicks away moisture and supports hand hygiene during long training sessions.

Need full boxing gear?

Gloves are the foundation - but a complete set includes much more. In the SMMASH offer, you’ll also find boxing hand wraps, which stabilize the wrists and protect the metacarpal bones under the gloves. If you also train other disciplines - check out our MMA gloves and shin guards. And since you’re already on the mat or in the ring, it’s also worth taking care of the right apparel - durable rashguards, shorts and leggings that will withstand even the most demanding sessions.
